Animals in FarmVille

Friday, February 5th, 2010

In Farmville there are two basic groups of animals: Livestock (which you can purchase at the Market for coins or Farmville cash) and Lost Animals (which will show up on your farm once in a while).  One good thing about animal crops is that they do not rot like plant ones.  You can be logged off as long as you like and when you come back, the animals will be waiting to be harvested.  Animals are unproblematic and easy to handle.  It is a great way of making money while enjoying some assortment on your farm.

Livestock

Your livestock choices at the Market are pretty limited right now.  Currently there are dairy cows, pigs, and white (regular) sheep. Pigs, dairy cows and the regular white sheep are the only animals which can be acquired at the Market.  New animals come out for a selected time during special events and holidays. Green cows presently calledAlien Cow (previously titled as BOV1NE-09) appeared in the Market for 2400 coins.  Green cows provide a crop named “milktonium” which sells for 18 coins. American Thanksgiving brought about the release of the “Baby Turkey”- when harvested for the first time, it will morph into grown Turkey.   The grown-up Turkey produces feathers which can be harvested once every 2 days can be put up for sale at 80 coins per harvest.  Your friends can give you additional exotic livestock as free gifts plus the regulars are available there as well.

The animals do not have the same harvest times.  Several animals “ripen” and can be harvested once a day while others require as many as four days.

Lost Animals

Farmville has an interesting feature which requires you to keep an eye on Facebook status updates to find out whether your friends have discovered any “lost animals”.  Every so often, lost animals will appear on your farm and request your help.  An example would be the Wild Turkey, which was introduced as a new “lost animal” by the creators of Farmville during the American Thanksgiving holiday.

The following caption will be shown upon the arrival of the Wild Turkey on your farm:

(Your name) discovered this frightened bird in Farmville. This time of year is tough for her and her kind. Hopefully she can find comfort and safety on a friendly farm. ..

Here is a list of some of the other “lost animals” in Farmville:

*Ugly Duckling (turns into a swan)

*Brown Cow (produces chocolate milk)

*Pink Cow (makes strawberry milk )

*Black Cat (gives yarn)

*Turtle (produces eggs)

*Black Sheep (gives chocolate wool)

*Regular cows also wander but they are obtainable through the Market and free items

You will not be able to adopt the lost animals.  You can only help them by putting them up for adoption.  If you have more than one Facebook account, this is the ideal instance to utilize it!

Log out and afterwards put your lost animal up for adoption.  Log in on your other account and immediately get the animal before someone else does!  Like what I said before, keep an eye on your friend’s status updates so that you can adopt their lost animals.

Consider buying a Dairy Barn or a Chicken Coop if you’re collecting a lot of cows and/or chickens.

Each building holds 20 cows or chickens and provides a convenient way to store them, and harvesting them all at once.

Chicken Coops also give you the opportunity of getting Mystery Eggs..  Check out Farmville Buildings to learn more.
